Kama Kawaida with Kagwe, Mayonde and Muthoni Drummer Queen
For once I heard the song Kama Kawaida before I saw the video, that doesn’t happen often and I’m just so darn proud of myself.
I just have so many questions about this video, and I’m not even gonna be my usual hater self that we call know I can be. I just need to know,
a) Were there different directors and camera men for it? Were there multiple editors? Because it doesn’t really feel cohesive, like one ‘story’ so to speak.
b) What was that party scene? A club, a house party, a perfromance? Why do people look so rigid?
c) Why is Kagwe’s portion of this video out of sync with the audio?
f) MDQ’s verse? I’m such a big fan but fell flat for me (I love her so much you guys this part me so sad)
g) Were the back up women(dancers?) given any direction? They look a bit lost on what to do and how to act to be honest.
h) These three women are usually good songwriters what happen with the lyrics in this song?
Things I did like in the video
-The styling is amazing
-The wardrobe is amazing
-They used plus sized women in their video which is awesome
I’ll mention the beat again because it really is fire!
I really want to like this song but it feels too frivolous, Kama Kawaida doesn’t feel like a happy go lucky song that you can just jam along too, it just feels lazy. The beat is fire though I can’t dispute that. Maybe I’m not the target audience let’s see what this group comes up with in 2017.
