Comic Book Nerds and whining

Hi I’m Laureezy and I’m a comic book nerd, and I think I hate comic book nerds. Other comic nerds. I honestly do. We’re a really whiny bunch of human beings. Like super whiny, notice I said we not they, I’m not distancing myself I have done it too.

I really don’t like the current crop of nerds that I generally interact with online. We’re such an impossible group to please all of the fucking time and boy do we like to complain, that’s a nerds past time online I think, complaining. And we don’t like change at all. We like to complain about change, constantly.

Johnny Storm

You know what’s the latest thing we’re complaining about Johnny Storm being black, the hate that Michael B Jordan is receiving online is to say the least disgusting. Other than you’re usual racist remarks (woohoo for bigots) the thought that you can’t have two siblings one adopted of a different race is mind boggling the average nerd online. They say and I quote “it’s not historically accurate” and I’m sitting there like guys know that it’s a made a story right? Historically accurate? I died.

Man Of Steel

A lot of nerds complained about Man of Steel not about the story (which I liked by the way) you know what I kept hearing complaints about? His suit. The changes to his suit, because the underwear on the outside made so much sense. I was like

Those are the people who will legitimately die during the zombie apocalypse. True story. Zod dies but no the suit, that’s what ruined Man of Steel.

Gotham

My favorite thing to do right now is to watch guys herald the greatness that is Gotham. I like Gotham as a show I had faith in it from the get go, and when I started watching it no one else seemed to like it and boy did they complain about it. My favourite complaint was that it wasn’t about Batman aka Bruce Wayne. You’d think the show was called Batman; The Coming of Age 😂😂😂

But now oh now Gotham can do no wrong Gotham is the best TV show to ever exist in TV show land. And I’m just sitting there thinking you guys are so fucking fickle and shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Avengers

Avengers: Age of Ultron seems to have rubbed guys up in the wrongest of ways, like the level of complaining about this movie is unparalleled. Sometimes I want to just explain to people what a remake means but I’m tired I won’t. Age of Ultron might need it’s own post.

My only question is what happens with people, why can’t we just honest to God enjoy movies and TV. What is it?

Why do we feel owed something? Entitled? Who gave us that right? Most of our comics now  are being re-imagined and that’s a good thing otherwise we’ll just keep getting Spider-Man like movies. We keep arguing that someone’s interpretation of a different persons imagination didn’t match what we imagined it would be.  Just think about it.

So I’m about to explain why *I* personally whine alot about adaptations but i need you to forget all the whines you’ve heard before, all the racist, ignorant, misogynistic and plain out rude comments for a moment. okay? are we on the same page?
Now ill explain using a theory I call “the Catfish theory”. You call yourself a comic nerd but *I* like most of my geeky brothers am a gaijin -Japanes for outsider- we are those that were born too weird or with no social skills or in the rare case just avoided people. We spent/spend most of our lives with these characters all our time, money and resources on them to a point there not just ink on paper but almost people. We develop real emotions for them. Falling in love with the best hating the villains for ruining there hard work and balling our eyes out with them. We develop a special relationship between writer character and readers with them building up this people for us. feeding us every single detail to make them human reaching as far as telling us there blood type(look up this details in anime and such) and its relevance. In simple to us there not entertainment, there an escape we cant play sports or go on adventures and they are our gateway to this maical world we dream of and we take all the slander for them and act wierd in there name. So consider this special relationship between me and this characters akin to a guy you’ve met online and he’s a sweetheart he’s told you every detail about his life, his family what he does and how much he loves you e.g lets call him…IDK? Tom?. Now this is where the catfishing comes in, one day you decide to meet in real life. You want to introduce him to all your freinds and family and you know as he is hes perfect. But then when he sees your dad he tries to be some tough guy you know hes not, when talking to your mom he pretends to be a master chef. Around your sister he beomes this over lovey dovey thing you hate and around the boys hes just a straight out asshole. Yes hes the guy you fell in love with, kinda, yes your whole family and friends will love him and yes to some extent he will be a great dude. he wont be the Tom who you know is amazing and people will love regardless. now mom as you whine to your children that Tom is an okay guy and I should just accept him i and my fellow Geeks will always be mad at him and tell him act yourself please

First of all, thanks for commenting. Good on you mate! I can’t believe I’m only seeing this now good god what time is it? anyway
I kinda, sorta, almost get your catfish analogy I really almost do, but not really. And don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that nerds have no right to complain. I just wish they complained about what’s the word useful things within the comics.
Also your definition of a nerd is a bit limited.
I’m a nerd a proud one at that and I’ve never been holed up in some basement not socializing with people and imagining myself married to Tony Stark hahaha
I mean come on, we come on all shapes, sizes and socialisations hahaha I’m just saying.

Mon amie ld like you to know I love you. I love your personallity, i love your work, i love everything about you…but i hate how you still dont get me :’-(. I’ll try helping you out a bit on that so that i love you as a whole. i didnt want to bring this up becasue i find it irrelevant but there is a fine line between nerds and geeks, nerds have the right to use the line there IQ exceeds there body weight or they have a four letter name with a six figure salary while geeks are just intensley intersted in a particular topic or subject. the overlays between the two come from there one most defining quality that youll see when you look up the definition of the word in almost any medium because the term originally defined a person with social akwardness so if you love comics but dont have any dificulty with interaction your not a nerd/geek your an enthusiast.this is akin to calling yourself a jock and youve never played any sport your just in shape or a white person calling himself a nigger(im black so this isnt racist) because his gangster. please stop trying to steal these term from us we are tired of making memes about “pseudo-nerds”. Now that thats out of the way lets talk about after i spent my time explaining how every single detail was written with a particullar reason (weve had issues dedicated to details and how there significant) but since you can laugh at our lives work that are changed to shameless cash grabs by deeming them “useless” i say to you adieu and im looking forward to you spitting in our faces again. Au revoir, Shoshanna!.
